Role Purpose:
The team is currently hiring an Analyst or Graduate Analyst to work with the Senior Portfolio Manager, Equity and Alternatives. This is a highly visible role and the successful candidate will have opportunity to have a meaningful contribution to business performance.
The Equity and Alternatives team is responsible for Challenger Life Company’s equity and alternative investments. The investment strategies include listed and unlisted equity investment, absolute return funds and other uncorrelated strategies. The approach of the team is quantitative and systematic in nature. This role will provide a broad exposure which is an excellent opportunity for those looking to learn and apply themselves in a range of asset classes.
Role Responsibilities:
The successful applicant will be responsible for assisting with reporting, monitoring/continued due diligence and operational management of an existing portfolio of investments. In addition, the role will assist in due diligence of potential new investment opportunities for the portfolio. This will include assessing relative value, forming a view on manager capabilities, risk management and assessing returns/DCF for prospective direct investments. To ensure success, the Analyst will maintain up to date knowledge of best practices with regards to unlisted equity investing and portfolio management.
Role Requirements:
  • The ideal candidate will be an experienced front office analyst or recent graduate
  • Responsible for analysis of existing as well as prospective investments
  • A tertiary qualification with strong GPA in the fields of Finance, Economics, Econometrics, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science or similar
  • Strong analytical academic background (e.g. engineering, data science, statistics or mathematics), enjoy problem solving and have an eye for attention to detail
  • Ability to clearly communicate as you provide recommendations and insights on an array of investment strategies
  • Experience with SQL, Python, R, Matlab and Mathematic advantageous
